If you have created an account on the Copyright Website, then you
may have noticed that we collect three levels of personal
information:
- Log In Information
- Personal Information
- Copyright Application Information
Log In
Information
In order to uniquely identify you, Log In Information requires two pieces of data:
The email address is used as your unique identifier and Log In name. It
is used in conjunction with your password to give you access to your account.
Your email address is used to send you your password in the event that you have
forgotten it. If you have chosen to Opt-In, your email address will also
be used to send you relevant information from the Copyright Website.
Personal
Information
Personal Information requires data about your real name, address
and contact information. Personal Information is not required
to open an account.
Personal Information is only required if you wish to use the
Copyright Registration Services. This information is required
by the United States Copyright Office to process your Copyright
Registration Application.

Information
If you use the Copyright Registration Services via the Copyright
Wizard, then you will in due course provide information about your
copyright registration.
Use of
Personal
Information
In the highly unlikely event that we determine that it is advantageous
to our users, we may share information and summary or aggregate
statistical information and data with third parties. If such
information includes your email address, you may receive email
directly from such third parties. You may decline to receive
such additional email when you Log-In to your account.
From the Account Console, simply click Profile to edit your account;
change your selection from Opt-In to Opt-Out, and then click Next.
Email
If you use the Copyright Wizard for copyright registration services,
we may contact you by email throughout the registration process.
If we are unable to reach you by email, we may try to contact you by
phone.
In addition, if you have chosen to Opt-In, we may occasionally send
useful information to you by email, including new products and
services offered by us or other organizations. You may decline to
receive any additional email concerning new products and services
when you Log-In to your account. From the Account Console,
simply click Profile to edit
your account, change your selection from Opt-In to Opt-Out, and
then click Next.
Consent
By visiting the Copyright Website and using the services and
features that we have made available, you consent to the Terms and
Conditions, and you consent to our collection and use of information
in the manner we have described.
